Thanks to all who were able to join us this past Tuesday to hear Michelle Gellatly talk about the Cambridge Humane Society, their work in our community, and the pressures they are facing as an organization... it was inspiring to hear about their accomplishments. And... the meeting was also a chance to check out The Little Mushroom!
On July 23, we will be hosting our new District Governor, Shoal Nasser, who will be sharing his thoughts on the coming year. And in August, we will be working through meeting location decisions for the coming year. Stay tuned for more information!
The District 7080 Bulletin for July has now been released. It includes a number of "thank you's" and other items, including one on the Rotary Club of Cambridge's (Preston-Hespeler) Community Services Day. They raised $30,000, split across six local organizations including the Cambridge Humane Society, Cambridge Food Bank, Cambridge Canada Day, Food4Kids, Porchlight Counselling and Addiction Services, and Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. All of this was raised through their fundraiser gala and bingo funds. (It just reinforces how useful bingo funds can be to clubs like ours!)
You may have seen an email this past week from Stephanie Urchick, RI President, with a preview of the coming year for Rotary International. She has shared RI's Action Plan, including ways to strengthen our impact on local, regional, and global levels.
Among the tools that she shares includes several that strengthen our membership recruitment and retention (as well as polio eradication, strengthening the diversity of our clubs, and promoting peace around the world). Click on the link below to explore some of those membership tools!
Just the heads up that dues for first quarter are now payable. You should have received an account statement by email... if not or if you have any questions, please reach out to Elaine H. for more information. Dues are $210 for the first quarter, and can be paid by e-transfer to treasurer@rotarycambridgesunset.ca.
